You’ve probably heard stories about how you need to get it taken care of immediately and how you won’t be able to sell your house because of it, but is Japanese Knotweed actually dangerous?
Japanese Knotweed is an invasive plant species native to Japan. It was introduced to the UK in the 19th century and has since become a major problem for many countries across the world.
The plant is usually cream or white and looks a bit like bamboo. It is exceptionally adaptive and can live anywhere, which is why it’s able to grow in so many places.
Despite Japanese Knotweed’s strength and its ability to break through concrete, tarmac or house foundations, it is not toxic for humans.
Occasionally some people report mild skin irritation after coming into contact with the plant, but it is safe to touch.
Your family pet is one of the most important parts of your life. The thought of your pooch or kitten eating something potentially deadly is stomach churning.
Fortunately cats and dogs can eat Japanese Knotweed without it doing them any damage. The plant is not toxic to household pets and should they come across it in the garden and fancy a taste, they’ll live to tell the tale.
