What to Expect from an Invasive Weed Survey
09/10/2026
When you arrange an invasive weed survey with JBB Knotweed Solutions, what should you expect?
Our surveys involve more than identifying a plant and providing a price for its removal. We assess the site, document our findings and prepare a detailed written report to help you understand the invasive weed present, its potential impact and the options available for managing it.
Here’s what happens from the initial visit through to receiving your report and management proposal.
Visiting and Assessing Your Property
Our expert surveyor visits your property to assess the invasive weed within the agreed survey area.
During the visit, we walk the site, examine the plants and their surroundings, take photographs and record relevant location information.
We also consider site-specific factors that may influence future management, including access, nearby buildings, landscaping, boundaries and the apparent extent of plant growth.
Where relevant and possible, we may make observations of neighbouring land from areas we are permitted to access. However, we will not enter a neighbouring property without the appropriate permission.
These observations help us build a clearer picture of the site and any factors that may need to be considered when preparing our recommendations.
Preparing Your Written Survey Report
Following the visit, our surveyor prepares a detailed report documenting the findings.
Your report typically includes:
Site observations: What we identified during the visit, supported by photographs and relevant location information.
Plant identification: The invasive weed species identified and information about its characteristics and growth habits.
Legal considerations: Relevant legislation and the property owner’s responsibilities in relation to the plant.
Management options: An explanation of potential remediation methods, such as herbicide treatment or excavation, where appropriate.
Practical guidance: Useful do’s and don’ts to help you avoid inadvertently spreading or disturbing the plant before professional management begins.
Our aim is to provide a report that is informative and practical, whether you’re a homeowner, property manager, developer or commercial landowner.
Your Professional Management Proposal
The final stage is our management proposal.
Using the information gathered during the survey, we recommend an appropriate approach for the site and provide the associated costs.
Depending on the plant, its location and the extent of growth, this may involve a herbicide treatment programme, specialist excavation, monitoring or a combination of management methods.
Our proposal explains the recommended scope of works so you can understand what is involved before deciding how to proceed.
There is no obligation to instruct JBB to carry out the recommended works following your survey.
